It Is Happening Again… 

To mark the 5-Year Anniversary of Plays the Music of Twin Peaks, Jamie Stewart and Angela Seo‎ returned to The White Lodge (in this case Xiu Xiu's NURSE studios) to resurrect their previously unreleased cover of "A Real Indication," originally written by Thought Gang (David Lynch & his musical muse and Twin Peaks composer Angelo Badalamenti). Taken from the 1992 series prequel film, Fire Walk With Me, "A Real Indication" features contributions from drummer David Kendrick (Gleaming Spires, Devo, Sparks) and arco double bassist Jherek Bischoff.

Released on August 19, 2016, Plays the Music of Twin Peaks was born when Australia's Gallery of Modern Art in Queensland commissioned Xiu Xiu to reinterpret the music from Twin Peaks for their David Lynch: Between Two Worlds exhibition, culminating in a proper studio album of the compositions. Speaking of the period in which everything came together, Jamie Stewart shared –

"The LP was all played live and we knew that "A Real Indication" would have to be as well. We invited our friend and superb drummer David Kendrick (Gleaming Spires, Devo, Sparks) to come to our little studio, NURSE, and bang it out with us. We had it in two takes, which about left us as well laughing on the floor in delight. It is an insane song, and it is insane to play and sing. That night we called Jherek Bischoff, who produced the original LP, and asked him to contribute arco double bass parts which he did beautifully and bizarrely. BLAMO!

It is funny how lucky we were to have released Plays the Music of Twin Peaks when we did. The third season was announced while we were in Australia preparing for the first concert of the soundtrack we would ever play. It was fully back in the zeitgeist at the exact time we were working on it. The White Lodge had given us a little kiss. It was amazing to have been able to inhabit that monumentally inspiring world for a couple of years. As crazed and devoted fans, who could have asked for more? In the meantime we have watched Season 3 over and over and our love for this epic has only grown. It is irresistable although more than a little on the nose to say this of the reissue but, we are so excited that It Is Happening Again."
