Following the release of "Get Out" last month, Elise Okusami returns with a double-serving of Oceanator tracks from her upcoming album, Everything Is Love and Death - out August 30.
Album opener "First Time" rings clear and bright, familiar like a memory you never knew had been locked away, guitars ringing like fireworks and Elise’s voice pushing and pulling you with symphonic delight, urging you through and onwards. "Be Here" opens with dueling guitars as they echo against each other, conjuring haunting synths that shine like cosmic memories. Wavelengths of the past intertwining with tones of the present. Of the pairing, Oceanator says:
"'First Time' and 'Be Here' very much live in the same world for me. They’re describing the same day - one kind of in the afternoon, and one overnight. 'First Time' is what I’ve been calling my thin Lizzy song, with the harmonizing guitar riff. And 'Be Here' is a little more floaty, synth-y, less in your face-y. Will Yip played drums and my brother Michael played bass on 'First Time,' but 'Be Here' is all me on everything! It was super fun to record all those parts and have the song come together. Even though they sound different I really wanted them to live together, and I’m stoked to be releasing them as a double single." - Elise Okusami (Oceanator)
