When The Fires Come

Release Date: September 9, 2019

London-based bilingual art-pop band Kero Kero Bonito released their critically-acclaimed sophomore album Time ‘n’ Place in 2018 and have been touring non-stop since with countless sold-out headline dates and their Coachella debut this past summer. They are gearing up for another massive North American tour Fall 2019, and to celebrate are back with a new song called “When The Fires Come.”

Reviews

  • "“When The Fires Come,” has a bit more of the synth levity that they displayed on 2016’s Bonito Generation, but it’s more patient and more overtly doom-and-gloom. It’s a song about the end times delivered through a gauzy lens."

    - Stereogum
  • "a dreamy, dire assessment of our fucked up climate crisis”

    - Gorilla vs. Bear
  • "Lead singer Sarah Midori Perry ushers in grand proclamations and observations in the track’s chorus. The central melody is focused around a gleeful, synth-y pan flute progression, adding to that sense of dysphoric nostalgia. With the visuals and song together, “When the Fire Comes” becomes subversively confrontational in both instrumental construction and delivery."

    - Consequence of Sound
  • "KKB's answer to an eco-ballad, a lyrically foreboding tale accentuated by a wondrous pan flute."

    - The FADER
