Three Songs by Three Kids for Three and a Half Years was Calvin Krime's swan song, and they couldn't have gone out with more style. The songs are three of the band's best, with Jon Kelson's out-of-control screaming and guitar rock, Sean Tillman's melodic yelp and fuzz-charged bass, and Jason Ralph's drum kit destruction coalescing underneath some seriously weird keyboard wank. "Mascara" and "This Sad Horse" are trademark CK melody-infused noise rockers, while "Get Off It" is an eight-minute-plus exercise in post-punk synthesizer groove. (All Music Guide)
Calling Minneapolis, MN home, Calvin Krime existed for nearly 4 years (until August 1998). They released 2 LPs on Amphetamine Reptile, two singles, and a split with Rocket From the Crypt on Amphetamine Reptile’s “Dope, Guns, and Fucking in the Streets Vol. 11.”
They toured with the Dismemberment Plan, 90 Day Men, Selby Tigers, Sarge, as well as others. They survived three loans, the Rockies with no brakes, never got into an actual fist fight (although coming close a couple times), and broke up mutually because they accomplished everything they wanted to do.
Sean Tillmann would go on to form Sean Na Na and Har Mar Superstar.
