What was originally titled Hope Spirit became Rainsnowmatch when Chris Broach replaced Pete Havranek on guitar during production in August '94. Meanwhile, the artwork screens for the cover had already been sent away and when they arrived, stickers had to be made to cover up the original Hope Spirit title.

Enclave Records released the first 500 copies of the 7" and then handed the reins over to Polyvinyl in December 1995. When Polyvinyl re-released the record, the illustrative abilities of Tim Kinsella were called upon to create the new cover.
