As the precursor to Braid's third album, Frameand Canvas, First Day Back provides a glimpse into what the band's defining album would become. The 7" is the first recording with new Braid drummer DamonAtkinson.

"Hugs from Boys" is a completely updated version of the original song, which first appeared on Braid's debut album Frankie Welfare Boy Age Five.

The red and black inserts to First Day Back were inked by guitarist Chris Broach and the 7" is also thefirst Polyvinyl release to feature design work by GreggBernstein.
