Boys in the Bathtub was recorded in a supercharged session at DC's Inner Ear studio (where new member T.J. Lipple works producing and mastering records).
The A-side "Boys in the Bathtub" gets its urgency from a stubborn kick drum and its peace from a mellotron built by T.J. in his living room. This is the electric version; the acoustic version appears on Aloha's third full-length, Here Comes Everyone.
The B-side is "You've Escaped," another song that can be found in drastically different form on Here Comes Everyone. T.J. plays the drums; Cale is on the piano. "You've Escaped" was born at Inner Ear, debuted at a show in New York and returned with its message of reassurance wrapped in rubber-band bass and delivered by unrelenting drums.
