Before STRFKR kickoff their first UK/EU tour in a decade, the atmospheric-indie-rock extraordinaires travel through surrealist spacetime to deliver their new single “Armatron” and its hypnotic animated music video by Edward Carvalho-Monaghan.
Of the single, Josh Hodges shared:
“This was one of the songs that started as a demo of Keil’s that I kind of re/deconstructed. The second section was made mostly with the sh-2 mono synth building the chords one note at a time, which is a trick I love doing with that thing. It kind of lets you move around in ways that wouldn’t happen using a poly synth. Plus it makes the notes all move around in a slightly different pattern. Lyrically, for me, it has the feeling of a couple having a fight and being in that crazy intense space, and then cooling off.”
Keil Corcoran added:
“This one started as a demo I made during the pandemic when trapped indoors for months. The first half of the song is based on that demo and Josh helped me finish it with vocals, lyrics, and some cool bass and chord progression ideas! This song was one of our more collaborative songs and I think that's what makes it so special! It's got this initial sassy vibe that evolves into this sentimental introspection that creates a really cool journey from start to finish in my opinion. It reminds me of our creative process on a few 'Miracle Mile' tracks.”
