Earlier this year, IAN SWEET (project of Jilian Medford) released her stacked new album, Show Me How You Disappear. Today, she presents an otherworldly cover of "Yellow" by Coldplay (one of her favorite bands) with an accompanying video. Like Show Me How You Disappear, whose “best songs swell in your chest like prime-era Broken Social Scene” (Pitchfork), her soon-to-be iconic cover feels cathartic. Produced by Daniel Fox, her voice surges over twinkling keys and anthemic percussion and guitar. The accompanying self-directed video, shot by Will Duncan, mimics the original Coldplay video.
“I've seen Coldplay live 6 times. Parachutes was the first CD I ever rented from the library and it changed my life. I owe a lot of who I am, and the way I write and perform music to Coldplay. I wanted to cover ‘Yellow’ because it is my go-to karaoke song, love song, breakup song, feel good song...it's everything.” - Jilian Medford
IAN SWEET has also announced a headline LA show at Zebulon with Whitmer Thomas and ill peach. Tickets onsale this Friday @ 10am PT.
