“On its warm and reflective new album, the Bay Area duo offers the most plainly pretty songs of its career. The stakes are high but the mood is anything but tense.” - Pitchfork
Ahead of their tour kickoff tonight in Minneapolis The Dodos are sharing a music video for "With A Guitar", from their new album, Grizzly Peak, which NPR proclaimed: “its 10 songs suspend listeners like marionettes above the guitar's sound hole, most every strum rumbling like a little earthquake.”
The Gene Ang and Kristine Lee directed music video for "With A Guitar" finds Meric Long and Logan Kroeber independently enjoying a bay area hillside hike, when upon encountering each other, Kroeber’s dog (played by Long’s own pup Maple) breaks loose and sends them both chasing after. Together they summit the peak (the real life Grizzly Peak) of a mountain at the trail's conclusion and catch up with the furry runaway as smiles abound. Suffice to say, the imagery aligns with the band’s own story, having first formed with the intention of creating a record that felt and sounded how the inside of a guitar might, and with their latest release, perhaps coming as close to that personal holy grail as they could have ever hoped. Watch below.
