Polyvinyl Records is 25 years old ! ! !

We've been at this for two-and-a-half decades, but honestly? We've never felt better, baybee! (see: Airheads® consumption. More on that below). To celebrate we're going to continue doing what we love – releasing timeless albums from incredible musicians — but we're also going max out the festivities with a slew of wholesome Midwest fun, including hot (& practical) new label merch, and special contests/giveaways.

We are also over the (almost full) moon to announce The Polyvinyl Podcast, a new series hosted by Fred Thomas – along with Polyvinyl staffers Natalie Dávila, Andy De Santis, and Seth Hubbard – that chronicles the story of Polyvinyl's evolution as a record label over the last quarter of a century featuring exclusive interviews with American Football, Alvvays, Japandroids, Jeff Rosenstock, Julia Jacklin, Kero Kero Bonito, of Montreal, Laura Jane Grace, STRFKR, Xiu Xiu and many more. Listen to a sneak peak trailer available now everywhere podcasts are found, or just scroll down. Subscribe and follow The Polyvinyl Podcast to keep up with new episodes as they are released.

Over the course of the last 25 years, Polyvinyl Record Co. has grown from an idea in the heads of two excitable music fans into one of the more versatile and artistically driven record labels of its kind. Today we remain a 100% independently owned & operated label with over 20 employees and 400 releases from more than 100 artists. The mission of our label has never waivered – we work hard everyday to tell the world about bands we love. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for sticking with us this far. There’s so much more good to come. #PVTurns25

A Brief History of Polyvinyl & Airheads®

In 1996 when Polyvinyl co-founder, Darcie Lunsford, launched our mailorder department she knew she wanted to add extras in our customers’ orders from day one – thank you notes, stickers, posters and, of course, candy. After experimenting with several options, Darcie tried Airheads®. Turns out they have it all: Airheads® are flat and slide into packages easily, they do not melt in the mail, and they are wonderfully tasty & vegan!

Making a purchase in the Polyvinyl store has always been the best way to support both the label and our artists. From our humble beginnings of taking literal "mail orders” — envelopes sent to us containing printed catalogs & cash — to our always-open store on The Internet, the ability to connect directly with fellow music lovers remains integral to everything we do.

25 years later, we still include Airheads® in every single order that goes out our door.
