We’re off-the-walls, beyond excited to announce that Tancred’s upcoming album, Out of the Garden, will be released April 1, 2016. Yes, we know it is indeed April Fools’ day…but this is no joke people! We ain't foolin'!

The album is available for pre-order now on CD, LP, tape, and MP3 - the “Early Bird” LP edition for this one comes on 180-gram red vinyl with black starburst. Yes, STARBURST!

After writing and tracking every song in her apartment, Tancred's Jess Abbott (also of beloved Minneapolis trio Now, Now) enlisted Kevin Medina and Terrence Vitali to add drums and bass to her demos. The band then traveled to LA to record with OFF! bassist Steven McDonald and That Dog vocalist/guitarist Anna Waronker.

Out of the Garden re-defines feminine expectations and was shaped by Abbott’s experiences living in Minneapolis and working at a liquor store in a rough part of town.

“I learned how to speak up when I needed to and how to truly be myself without reservation,” Abbott recalls. “I felt afraid walking home at night, and after a couple of months I just got sick of it and started getting into self-defense and self-empowerment as a means of coping. Finding my own strength changed everything.”

As Abbott reveals, “I wanted these songs to sound sickly sweet, with a looming, gory shadow behind them. Sugary, but when listening closely, unsettling.”

The first single, “Sell My Head,” debuted this morning on Stereogum, who says the track "simmers with a uniquely bold energy."

In addition to Out of the Garden, we'll also be releasing a 7" (Bed Case b/w Hounds) which also comes out April 1st. "Bed Case" appears on Out of the Garden while "Hounds" is exclusive to this 7".
