Originally released in April 2005, The Sunlandic Twins marked a significant turning point for of Montreal, showcasing Kevin Barnes’ evolving songwriting as they shifted towards a more electronic and dance-oriented sound. Today, the art-rock heroes celebrate the record's momentous 20th anniversary with news of a remastered vinyl and special digital reissue - both due for release on March 14.
Remastered by the album's original engineer, Glenn Schick, this release includes a 2xLP remastered vinyl package pressed at 45 RPM from a half-speed master, cut at Abbey Road Studios. Lovingly encased within a wide-spine jacket on gold holographic stock, you'll find printed cardstock innersleeves, a large-format 12-page booklet with new liner notes and track-by-track commentary from Kevin Barnes, as well as never-before-seen art sketches by David Barnes. In addition to the physical reissue, the special 4-disc digital package includes the Remastered 2025 edition of The Sunlandic Twins alongside 40 bonus tracks of B-sides, rarities, remixes, and a live set recorded in 2006 in Norfolk, VA.
