Momma, the Brooklyn-based band led by singers/guitarists Etta Friedman and Allegra Weingarten just dropped their absolute beast of a new single – the aptly titled "Rockstar". Its accompanying video—directed by LA-based duo Batshit! (filmmakers Ben Joyner & Henry Drayton)—is pure bliss, brimming with unbridled energy as it pays tongue-in-cheek tribute to rock music comedy favorites like Josie and the Pussycats, School of Rock, and Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny.  Watch below.

“Etta and I wanted to write a song about making it big, and becoming rockstars. We didn’t want to take anything too seriously, lyrically or musically. We just wanted the song to sound big,” says Allegra, who wrote the story for the video. “We thought it would be cool to have our own little rockumentary condensed in a 3-minute music video. It’s also kind of like a manifestation - I think we shamelessly want all of these things to happen in our careers.”

"Rockstar" follows the already iconic single "Medicine," – their first new music since joining the Polyvinyl fam. Produced and mixed by bassist Aron Kobayashi Ritch, these two songs also mark Etta and Allegra's first tracks written and recorded in the band's new hometown of Brooklyn, New York. Momma has announced they'll be supporting Wet Leg on select West Coast dates next month, in addition to a run with Snail Mail this fall. Tickets onsale now.
