Listen to Generationals' double bop drop of "Eutropius (Give Me Lies)" & "Hard Times for Heatherhead"
With just a month left until Generationals release their new album Heatherhead on June 2, the indie pop duo enlist FLOOD to premiere a double-serving of bittersweet drum beats with new double-single “Eutropius (Give Me Lies)” / “Hard Times for Heatherhead.”
On the former, Generationals' Ted Joyner shares:
“‘Eutropius’ is about that younger version of you [or maybe just me] that you want to grab by the shoulders and scream, ‘You’re getting it all wrong!’ But you grow older and slowly start to forgive the idiot you were for how dumb and lost they were. That relief of finally having enough distance to see your younger self for who they were, and kind of finally getting over it.”
Producer Nick Krill (The War on Drugs, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Spinto Band) explains the inspiration behind the track pairing:
“‘Eutropius’ feels like an outward expression and big forward motion. On the other hand, ‘Hard Times for Heatherhead’ feels more like an inward reflection – nighttime and the city, lights reflecting off of wet pavement, and steam coming out of subway vents.”
