"Jilian Medford’s last album as reckoned with addiction, doubt, and existentialism. On SUCKER, she reaches the light at the end of the tunnel. With newfound self-assurance, the Los Angeles indie-pop songwriter constructs some of her most instinctual, visceral music yet." - UPROXX: Best New Indie

"With the giddy highs and reeling aftermath of a relationship as a backdrop, [SUCKER] continues Show Me How You Disappear’s journey of personal growth by chronicling the twin aches of opening up to love and healing from it." - FLOOD

"[IAN SWEET]’s harrowing eloquence is the mark of a gifted storyteller." - The Big Takeover

IAN SWEET (Jilian Medford) finally unveils her highly-anticipated fourth studio album, SUCKER. With its three shining singles, acclaimed as some of the best releases from the last several months by the likes of The New York Times, Rolling Stone, Paste, UPROXX, and Under The Radar, this record exemplifies why Jilian's singular vision is one to keep your eye on. As the cherry on top, she's also shared a tender new music video for “Smoking Again” (directed by Caroline Pigou) - watch below.

“[This] video single handedly made me quit smoking forever. I smoked so many cigarettes within the first hour of filming that I couldn’t stop throwing up the entire day. This video was a blessing and a curse all wrapped in one." - IAN SWEET

Work on SUCKER began in the fall of 2022; Jilian took a cross-country road trip from her L.A. home to an artist residency at The Outlier Inn, which included 24-hour studio access to create in an unfettered fashion. Jilian brought these demos to life with co-producers Alex Craig (Binki, Claud) and Isaac Eiger of Strange Ranger, along with mixing engineer Al Carlson (St. Vincent, Jessica Pratt), all of whom helped shape SUCKER into a record that reconciles Jilian's beginnings with where she’s landed today.  “I revisited the reasons why I started playing music to begin with,” she explains. “I wanted to get more personal and showcase a more confident side musically and lyrically.”
