Though their retro vibe bears the influence of Phil Spector's mid-century pop, Generationals' sound is wide-ranging and diverse, incorporating elements of britpop, dance and electronic music. Above all, with each release the band continues zeroing in on their strong suit: superior pop songwriting since forming in 2008.

"Silent Ocean actually began in early 2016, but it's one of those that stayed around and we kept reworking until it finally came together earlier this year with our friend Dan Black producing. I always struggle to explain what any particular song is 'about.' And this one, as any other, just expresses the mood I always find myself in, especially when making music: eternally staring at the ceiling and thinking about the ocean or water. Not exactly sure what any of it really means, but I hope you enjoy the track all the same."
