In mid-March on the brink of COVID-19, Yumi Zouma released their first album since signing to Polyvinyl – Truth or Consequences. Stripped of the opportunity to tour and test out their new songs live, the band decidedly altered their approach to re-contextualize their original material. Truth or Consequences (Alternate Versions) was born as a commitment to continue experimenting even in the midst of newfound isolation. Ten new arrangements, rolled out every Wednesday leading up to the October 28th release date, gives us the opportunity to bask in the ToC glow a little longer.
Last week's "Truer Than Ever" was tackled by lead vocalist Christie Simpson and transformed into something more sparse and eerie. Today, album standout "Cool For A Second" lands with aplomb. Tune in below –
